United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes and Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. are joining forces for another year of partnership with their annual United Way Scan Campaign. The campaign is currently running at 21 Rochester-area stores until May 3.
The point-of-sale campaign allows Wegmans shoppers to donate a few dollars or round up their bill at checkout to support United Way. All proceeds from the campaign will help United Way support the 1 in 3 households in our region struggling to make ends meet.
For over 100 years, United Way and Wegmans have worked side by side to support the needs of our community. In addition to the annual scan campaign, Wegmans runs a workplace campaign and hosts special events and initiatives throughout the year, like the “Hots and Pops” and kickball tournament to support United Way. In 2024, Wegmans raised $4.2 million for United Way, making them United Way’s largest corporate partner.
“There are a lot of pressures on individuals and families to make ends meet,” said Jaime Saunders, United Way President & CEO. “When partners like Wegmans lean in and support, we can do the most for our community. We are incredibly grateful for the support of Wegmans staff and customers. The scan campaign will go a long way in helping our neighbors thrive.”
“Every year we’re inspired by the generosity of our customers and employees as they support this scanning campaign for the United Way,” said Sarah DePeters, Wegmans District Manager. “These donations provide vital funds for so many programs that make a positive impact for our neighbors and local community.”
Donations help fund United Way resources that support over 1,100 nonprofits and 400,000 individuals in a six-county region. Every gift, no matter the size, makes an impact. For more information on how you can help, visit unitedwayrocflx.org
