The gift of time

As a parent, you are often told to “take it all in because it goes by fast.” They aren’t wrong. Looking back, the time between changing diapers and scheduling college visits feels like no time at all.

Time is fleeting, so giving your time to another is incredibly generous--once it’s gone, it’s gone.

As we close out Volunteer Appreciation Month, we want to thank and recognize the countless volunteers giving time to United Way and our nonprofit partners.

Many of you volunteer your time to serve on our board of directors, committees, cabinets, advisory councils; hundreds of you are raising your hand at your workplace to support your United Way campaign as an Employee Campaign Champion (ECC); 14,000 of you volunteer to help hundreds of nonprofit partners through our Volunteer United platform each year; and over 5,000 (and counting) are registered to join us at our annual Day of Caring on May 23.

We can advance our mission because of your compassion, kindness, and humility. Thank you for giving your time and choosing your local United Way to give your time to.

Our communities are better served because of every one of you. Our time together may be fleeting, but your impact is massive.
