Rochester, NY – Today, in a live stream event with nearly 500 community members watching, United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes announced the launch of its first-ever six-county campaign and 104th annual campaign themed Make Way for Good. The organization also announced that Frank Hamlin, President, and CEO of Canandaigua National Bank and Trust, would take on the role of 2022 Campaign Chair.

Bill Goodrich, the 2021 Campaign Chair and CEO of LeChase Construction, announced that the 2021 ‘Built Together, Built Strong’ campaign raised $32.1 million and enabled United Way to fully fund its network of 142 partners and 192 programs.

“During a year when COVID-19 made it difficult for many workplaces to run their yearly campaigns, more than 1,500 workplaces stepped up and supported us, with tens of thousands of individual donors investing in United Way’s Community Impact Fund,” said Bill Goodrich. “The 2021 campaign affirmed we are certainly a community that is Built Together, Built Strong.”

The $32.1 million raised for the community in 2021 includes:

  • Annual Campaign (includes six-county region) – $20.6 million
  • Community grants, ROC the Day, Community Initiatives – $9 million
  • Other giving – $2.5 million

The 2022 United Way Campaign will focus on moving forward, advancing the next generation, and sparking equal opportunity. United Way is asking every person to come together and make way for good.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified our community’s challenges, but right now, we all have an opportunity to help make our region a better place. We can rally and be a greater force for positive change,” said Frank Hamlin, United Way Campaign Chair for 2022.

For the 2022 campaign, all new and increased donations to United Way’s Community Impact Fund will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $500,000, thanks to the Canandaigua National Bank & Trust 6-County Challenge Grant.
